Default B2HP vs BM2HP

Since the BulletM2HP has been out for a couple of months now, I am interested in some feedback associated with performance associated with these "jewels". With twice the memory and more than twice the processor I am considering migrating my existing B2HP AP's to the BM2HP. I have been "playing" around with them and hope that 5.1 properly supports "b" (no way I am going to swap out about 100 units).

The item I am soliciting information on is range. With one fourth the wattage (600mw vs 800mw) I am concerned about several customers which are right on the edge of existing coverage. While these stay somewhat steady with a fade margin around 10db, they hardly ever get above that and going to a "less" powerful unit makes me apprehensive...

Thoughts?

Sig

Hello,

You would need to plan on these fringe customers losing 2-3 dB of signal .

Thanks,

Mike

SAY IT AIN'T SO MIKE!!!!!
There is a monster hiding under the bed after all...

Dare I ask why the power "decrease"? Any plans for a 400mhz bullet2hp?

Sig

Mike do you ever get tired of people asking "any plans for...."?

For stations at this point with the current firmware, I think Bullet2M's might be a little better then 2HP's, they seem to have better sensitivity work better with less signal, for WDS links or AP's to G clients they aren't better yet, looking forward to the 5.1 release cycle to clean that up.

Some nagging issues when using as a station, Antenna Align tool incosistently works, selecting AP through the scan still doesn't work, but you can install around those. Bullet2HP's are no where to be found at this point anyway, so you kind of have to.

Hello,

Power is down due to the tighter requirements of the 11n protocol.

We have no plans for a 400mW Bullet 2HP

Thanks,

Is the datasheet for the bm2hp incorrect then? According to it, the power for the 2 units is the same?

Where did you see that ? The spec sheets shows that both radios put out 28 dBm.

I test a bullet2HP and a bullet2M:

Conclusión: Bullet2HP seems give very much power (how 6 db more) that M2 and more coverage. However, Bullet2MHP seems more stable and quick (I think why it have a 400 Mhz processor). I only test B/G mode.

Thanks,

Juan

Apples to oranges.

Bullet 2HP at 801.11b 11 Mbps = 29 dBm TPO

Bullet 2HP at 801.11g 54 Mbps = 23 dBm TPO
Bullet M 2 at 801.11g 54 Mbps = 23 dBm TPO
Bullet M 2 at 801.11n 54 Mbps = 22 dBm TPO

Conclusion: At 54 Mbps, the Bullet 2HP and Bullet M2 have the same output power.
