Hello,
I use on my notebook Acer 7520G the Ubiquity SRX.
Installed is Windows XP with Service Pack 3, but the same problems exists on this Notebook with Windows Vista and Service Pack 2.
At this card is an external antenna with magnetic base installed.

The card works approximately 1 hour and then disappears.
I hear from Windows the beeper that the hardware was removed.
The client utility detects the card no longer.
Also in the Control Panel, the card will no longer be listed.

If the card is removed from the slot and reinsert, the card works again.

Installed is the driver 7.7.00 with Ubiquiti Client Utlity

Unfortunately I have no way to set the card on another laptop to test.
Has anyone else this problem?
Can someone help to solve this problem please?

Thank you very much!
Best regards from Germany

Hello,

How hot is the laptop in the area of the express slot?

Thanks,

Mike

Hello,
You are right, the card is hot when it crashes.
I have never respected the temperature of the card

I'll buy for the notebook an extra cooling.

Thanks for the quick support.

Best regards

Hello,

Sorry to hear that, some laptops have very poor cooling on the express slot side of the units.

Thanks,

Mike

Or how about this card runs way too hot and has poor driver support. I'd go with that one.

The Ubiquiti SRC doesn't work on an Acer Travelmate due to low power supply. It works good with HP notebooks...I will never buy Acer anymore!

Rostabosta: You hit the nail on the head. How about Ubiquiti take responsibility for making a crappy card and allow me exchange/return it? Worst $150 investment ever.

The driver support alone is appalling. They haven't had compatibility with their own client utilities since service pack 3 was released over six months ago. These aren't even the highest power wireless adapters on the market as they are often claimed either, but are priced at three times the price of respected 500mW USB units.
