Hi

I recently bought a Picostation2 for a friend becuase he wanted a extended wireless signal. The router he is using is a Draytek vigour 2800

http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/vigor2800.html

First I have attached a pic to show what it must do.

The green part is the garden/lawn. The blue is the pool deck where I get 1 bar signal with the laptop. as soon as I go into the apartment I get no signal. I wanto setup the picostation outside on the wall(displayed as star)
The distance fromt the picostation to the apartment is about 20m or less (45ft or less).

First is the picostation powerful enough (will i get full signal) and in what mode do I set it up? Must the channels be the same, SSID? Same Gateway? Only one laptop will be connected and used to browse the internet (512k connection). The wireless connection must have WPA2 security.

I have tried extending this wireless network with a smc ap that I had. But as far as I understand you cannot use WPA2 encryption in repeater mode. so that is why I got the Picostation.
I need help with the setup im a noob when it comes to wireless.

Your help would be much appreciated.

As AirOS does not support repeater function, you have to use both devices in WDS mode.

See this http://wiki.ubnt.com/wiki/index.php/AirOS_Wireless_Repeater_Configuration

I am not sure if WPA2 works in WDS mode yet. Anyway be sure to upgrade to latest firmware.

Ye I know. I set it up as a Access point in bridge mode and connected to the router via LAN cable and the internet works when I connect to the picostation. But as soon I enable security I cannot connect the the pico station.
