Hi,

I am developing (and currently trialing with real sites and real people) a hybrid MESH based solution for community level broadband schemes.

It is mostly centrally web based (as opposed to single units with
individual firmware settings) although there is a small amount of per-device GUI too.

I've had a look over your competition technical requirements
http://www.ubnt.com/challenge/requirements.php and I think that my
system / competition entry may not comply with these (its a system rather than an individual GUI for an individual router.

Due to this should I withdraw my entry?

thanks very much,

Derek

"I am developing ... a hybrid MESH based solution "

DOH.

A Solution for what ? A Network with frequently DOWN nodes ?

That's what AODV was meant for. A Commercial net does not have nodes that are frequently down.

OLSR is better anyway, but in the real world, you make sure your nodes stay UP, so even RIP wins over AODV or OSLR, and Static Routing works even better - cos the damned nodes are UP, or you cannot base a business on it.

Jon did tho .....

Still, do not take this to heart - develop it more. You never know.

I don't know anyone who uses static routing anymore - unless perhaps you have very few nodes. And if you have very few nodes I suppose they won't be down often and you won't have a business either.
