I have this delima as to which would be beter in covering about a 120 degree area.
Option 1 is to use a 120 (16db) sector antenna - cost $170 + PS5
Option 2 is to use 2 NS5s
either case I get similar signals over the area. Option 2 is the lower cost and has a few advantages, like one can fail and only half is down. However this uses two channels (I think I am ok with that) and has a bit more work in installing if I am to keep the two radios separated.
What are your opinions?
As always, Thanks
Gary

Personally I dont use sectors much if at all any more
I use Nanos as the AP pretty much exclusively (mini sectors)
my reasons being no cables or losses, no pain in the **** antenna brackets to fuss with so id say its actually less work using nanos
if the clients were nanos also then you have the flexibility of using the dual polarity features as well
There are so many more channel options in 5G and generally the spectrum is cleaner so I wouldnt be overly concerned with self or external interfearance.
I have had a cluster of 6 NS5s operating for around a year now with out any problems and rconway has I believe even more than that colocated

MD,
For your APs, what bandwidth do you set the NS5s to?
When you use multiple NS5s to cover a sector, how far apart do you put them?

In my case I know I have them too close together
at best 8"- 10" approx 60 degress apart
although I do not feel they have had any issues operating that close
for future sites I am working on a custom made cluster mount that will
maintain a 36" spacing
WHT had recommended sometime ago that 36" would be
a good minimum recommended spacing between units so
I would tend not to doubt him on that :)
as for the data rate I tend to lock everything down to the rate
that the furthest client can support which in most of my cases
seems to be 36M
