Dear Friends ,

There is some problem in our power station 2. We are using it for outdoor.
When we plugged Cat5 Cable which is more than 15Meter length into Powerstation (PS2) Device then PS2 does not get power through the Injector (white color device with 12V adaptor which came in Box of PS2). I reduced the length of Cat5 Cable to 8 - 10Meters. Now PS2 works fine.
I want to know Why does the POE Injector not work properly. I want to use POE Cable which should support more than 40Meters length.
Can we use 48V POE adaptor intead of 12V adaptor on PS2 ?

Please someone help.

Thanks

I have the same problem with MK equipment. Given a certain cable length an 18V Poe will run a piece of equipment with a 400 mW radio and 15 dB antenna with no problems, but another equipment with 600 mW and 19dB will reboot continuously until i shorten the cable length to 8 to 10 mts. (same as you).

You'd have to calculate the proper voltage drop and length of cable to change the POE. The solution i came up with was to bring a power cable as close as possible to the radio/antenna then run cat 5 data only cable to my switch box. Cat 5 will let you do 300 ft.

Problem is that very probably your POE will end up in an outdoor enviroment and then you have to solve that issue too.

Do you know the gauge of the cat 5 cable wire your were using, I have run PS2 and 400MW units at or in excess of 15 meters and am using UV stabilized outdoor Cat 5e 22 AWG wire. Lots of Cat 5 cable is 24 AWG which will present more voltage drop over length.
You can also just measure the voltage presented at the radio and provide a power supply that will compensate for the voltage drop and provide sufficient power for the connected load. Hope this helps.

I've run 200 ft plus runs from the radio to the poe, with no problem. I have a rj-45 connector with my blue wires and brown tied together (blue/white and blue pins 4/5) (brown/white and brown pins 7/8) that I keep with my multimeter to test voltage at the poe, and I'm going to make a keystone here soon for the radio side. That way I can use the existing connector, not having to make another.
