Hello,

I am thinking of providing free internet in selected locations like beach side, near malls, and other selected areas of city. The setup am thinking is hotspot but i wanna provide free internet to the users, cuz dsl rates now a days are so lucrative that its hard to sell internet to individual users in city. I wanted to generate my income through ads, like any user can get connected and use internet for several hours a days free, to continue buy an account or wait for 24 hours OR something like it. And after users log in to the internet they will have to go through ads ( local ads just like newspaper or offers of different companies). These ads users cannot skip, and i will be charging the companies for ads which they will host with me.
Well am not sure how but this is what am planning. I will really appreciate if some body in this forum can help me by answering the following.
1) Is any body offering this kind of service or similar one ?
2) Do you guys who are seniors at forum with lotta WISP experience think this will work ?
3)Any suggestions are ideas are most welcome.

Thanks in advance .

If I could get some short free online time at a beach / mall or similar... I would suffer the forced ads.

But you have to keep in mind your customer base isn't just going to be laptop users. You'll have people on basic mobiles that don't like a lot of flashy content going on.

I know my N95 craps it out when some websites to the pop-under advertising on every 2nd or 3rd click.

That was the revenue stream that free municipal wifi was trying. Major failure.
