Hi all,

I love the XR5, have used the XR5 and it works great. Wondering though, if anyone here has used the new Mikrotik R5H and what your thoughts are in comparison to XR5

The obvious comparison is that XR5 is 600mw, R5H is only 320mw...

In the 5ghz world with PtP links having a limit of 1watt radio with unlimited dish size I would wonder why i might use it for PtP links? Does it operate better for nstreme?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

I don't recall off hand, but it was the guy from UK that dumped his single channel Nstream stuff as too many problems.

Unless you go with a several thousand dollar six foot dish, a $600 (estimated) 36" 32 dBi would work. Minus connector and cable losses, that will give you about 60dB EIRP.

Which is 7 dB over the U.S. legal limit for UNII-3.

Hey all,

just thought I'd comment that I found a "review" of the R5H performance vs the XR5

We have 8 PtP backhaul links running on Mikrotik RB433's. I do have one short link using an R5H, and the rest are XR5's or R5N's. So far the XR5's and R5H's are the same, as far as throughput. The R5N's have the most throughput (70-90Mbps), single-stream N
