Hi Mike,

Is there any model of PS2 which supports external antenna, if it is there can i have the datasheet for the same.

Yes there is the PowerStation EXT
but I don't think there is a separate data sheet for it
at least I cant find one
so my guess is that the specs are the same as the PS2
but without the antenna

Hello Hansraj,

Maximum hit the nail on the head.

Its the same spec receive/tx as PS2 just without the antenna. the PS2-EXT has 2 N-Type connectors on it.

Thank you,

Mike

Hi Mike,

It is better if we make different datasheets for different models, so that it is easier to convience end users and Govt. Tenders where we need to produce exact specification datasheet of products.

Hello Hansraj,

We are working on getting all of the specific data sheets up, I was just giving you an option in the meantime.

Thank you,

Mike

I see that your external antenna model has 2 n-female connectors. What is the recommended antenna setup?

I'm getting ready to setup an outdoor wlan at a sports arena. A centrally located mounting position is available and a single omni would be optimal.

Thanks

I believe it just allows you to switch antennas
from within the GUI

I don't think it uses both at the same time
so you could have say both a Hz antenna and a Vert antenna attached
to the ps2X and switch back and forth between them

assuming you were using nanos or the ps2 dual for clients
and they were in adaptive mode the clients could then
switch polarity on the fly to follow the AP

not sure how practical it is in real use that way
but it is a damn cool option

If a pair could be used as a backhauls that switch on the fly
to avoid interference thats pretty sweet too :)

Hello,

Maximum is correct, we do not have antenna diversity enabled. The 2 N-Types are there to select between the antennas.

Thank you,

Mike

Thanks for the answers. I'll let you know how it turns out.

In other words. Can I use the PS-EXT to have the left antenna for backbone link and the right antenna as AP for client connections?

No that would require two separate radio interfaces
the ext has just one radio with two antenna connectors
they do not operate simultaneously

I rencently buy and PS2-EXT and it has 3 option the use of the antennas:
1-. Antenna 1
2-. Antenna 2
3-. Diversity

Some body knows what the 3 option is for?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

If the version of the software is later then 3.1.1 then Diveristy was included in these releases.

Thanks,

Mike

Sorry to bring this back up but I could not find a for sure answer.

So if Diversity is now included will the PS5-EXT now be able to do what tbelo is asking?

In other words. Can I use the PS-EXT to have the left antenna for backbone link and the right antenna as AP for client connections?

Hello Wifi442,

In order for Diversity to work properly both antennas need to be pointed at the same AP. The idea behind diversity is to increase the receive sensitivity to one AP, not use multiple antennas in different directions.

Thank you,

Mike

I have to agree with Mike. When using diversity with two antennas in two different directions, I have experienced very poor results.

Here in Missourri I have to shoot a lot of links through trees, and I use diversity to help get around this with 2.4

Wich one of both antennas is the # 1?

If your looking at the unit from the front, its the left connector.

Thanks,

The antenna connectors on my units are labelled in really small grey letters as to which one is which.
