Does the MiniPCI port in the RS support SSD cards? I think I can get OpenWRT to mount an SSD if the RS supports it.

To answer - No.
Storage options using the Mini-PCI slot seems to be limited to IDE / SATA / CF adapter
However I think this will still do what I need it to.
