Hi,

I've tried installing OpenWRT (Kamikaze 8.09) on the PicoStation2, but so far am not having too much luck.

I see that Ubiquiti has OpenWRT firmware images for the PowerStation at http://www.ubnt.com/support/ps2.php. Is there a reason why this is version 7.09 and 7.06 instead of the latest 8.09 version?

Does anyone have any recommendations for getting OpenWRT to work on the PicoStation? I have got it working on the Bullet2, which I thought was much the same except for RAM size.

Help will be greatly appreciated!

I have added a new boardconfig to the mkfwimage.c that openwrt uses under the

fw_layout_t fw_layout_data section called XS2-8

The problem with the current images that openwrt is producing is that the memory locations are different.

but for just getting an image up and going, use the mkfwimage that comes with the ubnt sdk, build your openwrt image...

add these to a text file..i called it test.txt

kernel 0x01 0xA8030000 0x000D0000 0x80041000 0x80041000 openwrt-atheros-vmlinux.lzma
rootfs 0x02 0xA8100000 0x006C0000 0x00000000 0x00000000 openwrt-atheros-root.squashfs

and then with everything in the same directory run

mkfwimage -v XS2.ar2316.Openwrt.xxx -i test.txt -o test.bin

and you can web update or tftp it, 10 minutes later you should be running openwrt!!

I'm using mkfwimage, version 1.2

When I try that command it tells me:
mkfwimage: invalid option -- 'i'

What version of vmfwimage does that work on?
..or alternatively, how do you specify the memory layouts when building an image using version 1.2?

Thanks Aliosa27, that did the trick.

We managed to compile the image and have uploaded it to:
