Hi Guys

I am a newbie to WISP. May you kindly help by answering the following questions.

1. I would like design a network with the powerstation as the main
basestation which has a connection to my wired LAN. I want this
powerstation to connect to CPEs,APs and Clients using radio adapters. I
want to design a star network as shown on the link below:

http://www.fbnet.co.zw/wisp.pdf

1a. Is this possible? i.e to connect a central base station to other base station and mobile clients at the same time.

1b. How may of CPEs,APs and Clients can be connected to this central basestation?

1c. How many backhaul links can be connected to the central base station? I want this base station to be able to connect to other (sub) base stations, CPEs, APs and clients as well.

1d. Which models of the nanostations and powerstations will allow me to
design point to multipoint links.

1e. Which models of the nanostations and powerstations will allow me to
design point to point links.

2. Which equipment can be used:
a) For base stations?
b) For CPEs?
c) Access points?

I can't download the PDF file.
Can you upload it to another server?

My advise is
1.
1.a) It's possible, but you will share the bandwidth, I recommend to use Master Base Station for backhaul use only.
1b) All depends of the bandwidth, aprox. 10 BaseStation or more if you use more radios.
2c) NanoStation or PS for Pt2Pt (all depends of the distance)
for Multipoint2Pt I recommend Bullet HP

2.
a) Use an array of 6 NanoStation5 or 3 XR5 connected to sectorial 120º antennas for Master BaseStation. For other base station all depends of how many do you want to offer, if you want a low cost solution use Bullet 5HP, otherwise, a Nano5 for receive signal from the Master Station and a Bullet 2HP for CPEs connections.
b) NanoStation 5 or NanoStation 2, also Loco works fine if there's a short distance.

Thanks

This has been really informative. I liked the idea of the master base station running only backhaul links. Thanks.

More questions as well. What sought of antennas would you recommend for my setup? Remember i am a newbie. Will be grateful to get more information on antennas. Any link?

For base Station I recommend Hyperlink.
For Master BaseStation (120º sectorial)
For Single Base Station (Omni 9dB, if you need more remember, more dB reduce the vertical angle).
For CPE use the NanoStation internal antenna.

I think your problem is going to be trying to support those 100 plus users with a single 512 Kbps satellite internet connection (with a future upgrade to 1 Mbps). Even a 1.5 Mbps T1 line is really pushing it for 30 users.

And then those users at 50 KM will have a lot of downtime.

I get what you are saying. Thanks a lot. It's going to help me in the future though initially my major conecern was the actual design. The functioning part of it.
