Hello, I would buy a kit form with any antenna or satellite dish ubiquiti to use connections which have a radius of 3-5km, ie the distance from my house to the office. To improve the reception I thought to buy a notebook in parallel which has maximum compatibility with the kit, you can give me some straight on what to buy and soparattutto which OS is best suited to that experience?
thanks.

Do you mean the SR71-A ??

If you just want to connect to points about 5 KM apart and have a clear line of sight, I'd use a pair of Nanostations with their built in antennas.

I think what he's trying to say is that the nanostation is a standalone solution. You won't need the laptop. You would also be saving a fair amount of money while still getting comparable performance, depending on what you're trying to push over this link.

Simple, cheap, sexy.

Also, the integrated antenna in a typical laptop would generally not be able to support this hypothetical 5k link.

As an equipment suggestion for a quick and easy connection, given a good line of sight with nothing in the Fresnel zone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fresnel_zone), I'd use a nanostation or nanostation loco 2.4 or 5 GHz.

Poke around, read the forums. We don't bite. Much. :D

Simple, cheap, sexy. The Powerstation is about as sexy as a Russian peasant housewife. The bullet is about as sexy......
