Hello, I would buy a kit form with any antenna or satellite dish ubiquiti to use connections which have a radius of 3-5km, ie the distance from my house to the office. Do you mean the SR71-A ??

If you just want to connect to points about 5 KM apart and have a clear line of sight, I'd use a pair of Nanostations with their built in antennas.

I think what he's trying to say is that the nanostation is a standalone solution. You won't need the laptop. You would also be saving a fair amount of money while still getting comparable performance, depending on what you're trying to push over this link.

Also, the integrated antenna in a typical laptop would generally not be able to support this hypothetical 5k link.

As an equipment suggestion for a quick and easy connection, given a good line of sight with nothing in the Fresnel zone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fresnel_zone), I'd use a nanostation or nanostation loco 2.4 or 5 GHz.
