Anyone have any suggestions on how to power 2 units on a single drop? I have a cheap AP in place now and want to replace it with 2 Locostations. Since the current unit there is no power nearby for a hub.

I could probably mount a small outdoor enclosure with some sort of hub splitting the power to the 2 Locostations, but I might end up over the current load for the CAT5 wire. The only hubs I've found so far are 802.3af.

Any suggestions on affordable hardware to complete this task?

Thanks,
Adam

Without some homebrew setup at least not that I have found
Id love to find a cheapish 5-8 port managed switch
that would output 18v on all ports though
that would be nice

Closest thing I have seen is this

What is the maximum draw for power over ethernet? How long is your drop.

Ideas that come to my mind are using the PoE to charge a battery and have the Loco's run off the battery. I don't know what the voltage of PoE is though.

disclaimer my only PoE experience is about a 3 foot run.
