We are currently providing wireless internet service in a small community using both 2.4 Ghz and 900 Mhz unlicensed frequencies. This deployment is quite small and will probably never exceed 500 or 600 subscribers.

I have a new tower going up to extend coverage to some of our more difficult areas (lots of trees, hills, etc. I would like to prefer to put a Wimax AP on the tower and Deploy WiMax CPE to certain users (in Unlicensed U.S. Wimax Spectrum).

However I have been unable to find any cost effective WiMax CPE for a small deployment. I'm not exactly sure how Clearwire or other providers are providing CPE to their subscribers for under $100 when all the WiMax CPE I can find is in the $500+ per CPE range.

Does anyone have a recomendation for unlicensed WiMax CPE (and AP's too) that are cost effective to deploy for a small installation?

Ubiquiti needs to make one of these I think it would be a great product offering. We're using the Nanostation2's for our 2.4 CPE and they are working absolutely great.

Tranzeo makes pretty decent priced Wimax gear.
