this is just to tell that finally the last version of openwrt in trunk is working great (aparently) without touch fconfig, just copying by tftp the file from the oficial site.
I have made a copy of the repositories in that moment and you can got it here:
http://www.yomolo.com/wifi/rs/r14411/Packages
and a copy of the firmware images here:

What do you mean with

?
There are problems with LAN interfaces (http://forum.ubnt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8150) and probably the machine is not automatically detected (try dmesg | grep MIPS and you will see MIPS: machine is Generic AR71xx board; this because in the last trunk the board name is "UBNT_RS" and not "Ubiquiti AR71xx-based board").
Bye bye.

PerseoInf - You can edit the boot script in RedBoot to change the board ID, as has been mentioned in the Wiki page and several posts now. That will get the board recognized as RS. I guess changing the board name was a subtle OpenWRT way of asking us to shorften our board ID. :-P
Also, we are now investigating topic 8150 and will keep you posted.
Thanks,
Mike

If Im not meshed (Ive been "geeking" a lot of time and all is possible) I didnt change the fconfig to make it detectable, i didnt add anything like "UBNT_RS" and now its detectable automatically....
By another hand i didnt tried the ports matter.

Thanks for providing a firmware image of OpenWRT for the NS2. You say latest Trunk, so would this be post RC2 ?
I'd like to put up a HS based on CoovaChili, have you tried this ?
I'm reading http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Ubiquiti/NanoStation2 and it talks about needing Redboot Loader, Will I need to use this or your images ? Are the directions posted there still valid ?
Thanks

This firmware is not for the nanostation, is for the routerstation, i think it will not work because the patches are designed for routerstation. The version is not RC2. it is posterior.
I didn't know about CoovaChilli but i could be also interested.... I'll research in another moment :)

GeeWiz,
The boot loader on your board is RedBoot. It will work fine for upgrading and loading of all different third party firmwares you could want to use (i.e. ddwrt, etc.).
Thanks,
Mike

I have several Hotspots running WRT's under OpenWrt/Coova and I would consider Upgrading them to NS2s if I can get it all running.
CoovaChilli is the new path of chillispot and they have been putting out a lot of good stuff lately.
If anyone does a port for the NS2s please let me know.

GeeWiz,
Well, I am pretty sure OpenWRT builds for XS2 can be made to run on NS2. I haven't tested it recently, though I have tested LS2/5 - for sure they work. I would just make sure you are familiar with the recovery procedure before trying a new firmware, and then it should be pretty safe.
Start with upgrading to latest AirOS release to get the latest RedBoot, and then only overwrite the kernel and root filesystem partitions and you should be fine.
I'm sure that if you can get package sources to this CoovaChilli package that you will be able to build them for NS2. Start from the setup used for "XS2" images - OpenWRT trunk. Then add the package.
Should probably take this discussion to the NS forum though.
Cheers,
Mike
