Is their a difference (Other than antenna and RF power) between:

Power Station
Power Station Ext
Nano Station
Nano Station Loco
Bullet
Bullet HP
Pico Station
Pico Station HP

Lite Station
WISP Station

I would like to see a comparison chart of all the UBNT products

Hopes its okay I piggy back on your thread...

I am also interested with this...

Im interested in which has the greatest power output level, I will be using a sector array w/ 3 x 17db sector antennas from a 3way splitter (1 N-type in, 3 N-type out)

I would like to know which external antenna connectors are used on these radios ... I couldn't find it on the website products section/description NOR the datasheets?

Are they N type, sma etc...

If it was my installation, I would use three Powerstation 2 EXT radios with three sectored antennas.

I would use the power station instead of:
- The Nano 2, because the Nano has a 3 dB loss when using an external antenna.
- The Bullet 2, because you can not use more than a 6 dBi antenna.

Using an antenna splitter is not a good idea.

Each sector is only getting one third, or 5 dB less. Therefore with a PS2 with a 24 dBm TPO (you are limited to only 24 dBm with a 12 dBi antenna - remember, you are splitting the 17 dBi antennas three ways), you're EIRP is 36 dBm (the max allowed).

Ok....so that isn't a problem...BUT, you are also reducing the signal into the receiver by 5 dB. So now you have effectively cut you coverage range by almost half.

WHT why the 6dbi antena limitation on bullet 2? is there any difference with bullet 2 hp?

Tamahome,

I have been talking back and forth with WHT about this... I actually called UBNT and they told me I could use 17dbi and greater with the bullet2 / B2HP - even reccomending I use the Bullet as the AP (in my particular setup they reccomended, if I were to use a 3 sector antenna array, to use 1 bullet2HP per antenna).

The way WHT explained it to me (and WHT please correct me if I am wrong) was that when UBNT sent the unit in to get tested/certified, they included a 6dbi antenna. Therefore, according to the documents WHT sent me, the Bullet has NOT been certified with an antenna greater than 6dbi.

Now what I don't know (gave up on the bullet, now researching other UBNT AP) is whether or not using a greater than 6dbi antenna would put you over the legal transmit level (if in USA)? However, if it does put you over the level, I think you may be able to compensate for that with the AirOS that ships with the unit --- I just got a few PS2 and have been playing with them and you can adjust the power level of the radio.

If you want links to the documents WHT sent me I will be happy to PM them to you...

From http://forum.ubnt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8296

Someone mentioned to me that UBNT told them on the phone the Bullet 2 could be used with an antenna with a gain greater than 6 dBi.

The FCC grant only shows it for a 6 dBi antenna at this time (this applies to U.S. users). If it is certified for a greater than 6 dBi antenna, UBNT should post the correspondence they've had with the FCC. Usually its in the form of a "Modular Acceptance Letter".

Is not a matter of exceeding a power level, it FCC Part 15.204 (c) (1) for external antennas.
