Hi to all, i just bought srx 300 from data alliance.
I have a linux system (backtrack3) and i use madwifi drivers compiled for kernel 2.26.8, so in my kernel i had to disabled normal atheros drivers.
All works fine but the signal is poor, her you can see my two card connected to my ap that dists about 1 meter...

wlan0 IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:"dlink\x00"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:19:5B:BF:2C:E1
Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=13 dBm
Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B
Encryption key:****** Security mode:open
Power Management:off
Link Quality=100/100 Signal level:-41 dBm Noise level=-84 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wifi0 no wireless extensions.

ath0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"dlink\x00" Nickname:""
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:19:5B:BF:2C:E1
Bit Rate:54 Mb/s Tx-Power:24 dBm Sensitivity=1/1
Retry:off RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:****** Security mode:open
Power Management:off
Link Quality=48/70 Signal level=-48 dBm Noise level=-96 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

as you can see my intel 5100 integrated card gets a strong signal even if i'm using the 7db antenna for srx.
I tryed also with another 5db antenna and same results.

Also to be sure, i have set to off wlan0 to see if it's signal could cause problem with srx antenna but same results again.

What can i do to improve settings? Are they driver related? (im using latest 9.4 madfiwi).

Thnx in advance.

Hello,

Please put more distance between the units and the AP. Our card has a RF attenuation stage that will bring the signal down if its too high. You are dealing with extremely high signal strengths there. Try both cards at say, 50ft

Thanks,

Mike

ok i have tested both connections from about 60 meters with some walls between.

with integrated intel 5100:

wlan0 IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:"dlink\x00"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:19:5B:BF:2C:E1
Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm
Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B
Encryption key:****** Security mode:open
Power Management:off
Link Quality=17/100 Signal level:-77 dBm Noise level=-84 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

and with srx and 7db antenna:

ath0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"dlink\x00" Nickname:""
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.452 GHz Access Point: 00:19:5B:BF:2C:E1
Bit Rate:36 Mb/s Tx-Power:24 dBm Sensitivity=1/1
Retry:off RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:****** Security mode:open
Power Management:off
Link Quality=11/70 Signal level=-82 dBm Noise level=-93 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

is this normal? maybe my intel 5100 is a very good power card...

is there a way to improve srx signal strenght?
