hi,

when I got my XR2 card transmitting at 26dbm the board makes a little interrupting and continue noise like "tac tac tac tac tac tac" (and maybe if its not at maximum but also high its more quiet and continue), its not loudly but I'm asking why it happens?
I have another card installed on the board and a power source of 3.5A

Thanks.

Hello,

It could be some audible noise from either XR2 or RS power supply because of current consumption activity changing quickly during high throughput testing.

It will not affect operation or reliability; but it is something we will try to reproduce in lab here.

This is just a configuration (1) XR2 card only?

Thanks,
Robert

Uhmm my configuration is one XR2 and another Engenius 600mW in in a RouterStation... The more energy it uses, more is the sound. I think its caused by the RS power supply because if I got the other Engenious transmitting highly the noise increase.

Its not really annoying because rarely I got those levels of energy, but I was worried for the cards/rb health.

Thanks,
P.D: Its a luxury to have this support :)

Hello --

Please remove Engeinus card (or replace with Ubiquiti card) and see if noise goes away

Its most likely the RouterStations switching power supply. The cards are most likely trying to draw to much current from the ps and the supply feed back is shutting the supply on and off rapidly. If that is whats going on then it will eventuality destroy the ps or the board. Just my thoughts on it. :D

"tac tac tac tac tac tac"
Owwwww....I've heard that sound when the retaining clip for the magnetics on a switcher are loose. Not a good sign. I've seen them slam together and throw ferrite core material all over my work bench.

I'll record a video with the sound this afternoon evening :P
Its more like a hard drive reading...

ohh ****! i discovered why the noise! its for the ****ing engenius card!!! I never imagine that from Senao... And seems that im not the only one...

http://n2.nabble.com/Engenius-EMP-8602%2BS-600mW-Radio-Blown-away-by-CM-9-td1091772.html

I was wrong, it doesnt depends on the power, it depends if some of my flat mates are using it or not (while im connected by cable).

Ill remove it right now and replace by another one....

As the author of the article says, you get what you pay.... its imposible a card of 35€ gets the same perfomance of XR2 100€... But i trusted in Senao :(
