We are using the XR2 in a system using a 2.6.28 Kernel.

We are using the latest SVN madwifi driver.

When we try to send out multicast data we seem to be loosing lots of packets. We have the mcast_rate set to 54000.

When we switch back to unicast traffic everything seems to be working fine.

We also tried the latest atk5k driver. I was unable to find out to set the mcast_rate on the driver, so we were rate limited on it.

Anyone else have any experience with multicast and the XR2?

Thanks

Maybe you just don't have a good enough fade margin for 54Mbps?
Since the data is multicast there can be no retries, and with a receive sensitivity down in the low -70dBm range for that rate the chance for packet error could be high.
whereas with your unicast stuff the data rate can fall back to a more reliable level (or at the very least least being retried up to 7 times per frame).

We were able to get some better results last night. We forced the link to 802.11b and 5.5Mbs data rate. With this we were able to get a lot better range.

The issue now seems that if we use too much bandwidth the madwifi driver dies after receiving multiple errors of:

wifi0: ath_fatal_tasklet: Hardware error; resetting.

This is all with multicast transfers using UDP.
