I have run into this on various units in the past, it was always one of the following:

- Bad Cable (either the POE or LAN Cable)
- Bad POE Injector (very low cost injectors tend have a high rate of death)
- Bad lan port on laptop (generally caused by accidentally plugging 18V POE into laptop)

Hello,

Can you please check the ethernet cables you are using, then try a different PoE injector and let me know.

Thanks,

Mike

I have the same problem with 4-5 bullet2. Sometimes, the LAN led is down. After lot of test, the new firmware revision v3.3.1 give a better result with this units but the uptime of this bullet still between few hours and a weeks.

I use Poe kit of nanostaion with 1-3 meters lan cable.

i have installed during the last 3 months about 300 nanostation2 and 5 without problems with the same condition of the bullet2.

Now, i have stopped the commercial installation of the bullet in my clients (french skiing resort)

Anyone have an idea ?

Use the Cat 6 UTP cable for PoE or Cat5e STP type....and the power adapter don't use Voltage over than 20VDC....so you can use Power Adapter from Laptop Power Adaptor or RouterBoard PoE Adapter combo that using 18-19VDC 1.4Amp......Good Luck!!!

Try a crossover cable, I know where a direct cable not working properly on some PCs

I'm sure that is not an autoMDX problem. I have an installation with bullet directly connected to a switch and other installation with the bullet directly connected to a NS5, the both with a non crossover cable, and the result is the same.

It's possible that the NS2-5 PoE injector will be not compatible with the bullet AP ? I'have only 3 meters max of RJ45 cable, and the loss is very low.

Or i have a bad production series of bullet,.

Hello Juan,

Have you tried different cabling? Also what type of switch and laptop are you connecting to the bullet? Also please see the stickied post at the top of the bullet forum.

Thanks,

Mike

Hello Mike,

After many test, i succeeded to reproduce my problem !
I think that this units are very sensitive with electrical variation and microcut.
It's very simple to freeze a bullet, and all my bullet's units are the same problem :
1- I plug the bullet
2- After booting, i unplug/plug very quickly the power adapator. 2 case 3, the bullet are freezed.
3- For retry the units, the only case is to wait 4-5 seconds between the unplugged and plugged. Sometimes this operation will be reproduce 2-3 times.

In this case, the bullet are totally freezed. No Lan power/response, no WiFi signal.
The watchdog have no result.

I'm sure this product have a default. I'll try to reproduce this with a nanostation without the same result. Nanostation still working normally.

If you want, i post a demonstration video of the freezing.

Thanks for your answer Mike.

Hey Juan,

What power adapters are you using? I just tried this a bunch of times in my lab and was not able to get the bullet to freeze after a quick power on/power off

THanks,

Mike

I've had the same thing happen with Nanostation5's, after a power cut a few wouldn't reset properly, and they just come back on with the power light, no lan, no signal. Turn them on and off again and back to normal, i found it was happening more with the 2.2.1 version firmware, with v3+ i haven't noticed it.

I have tried to recreate the problem (turning power on and off fast, and the likes), and have not been able to do it.

But i did find a work around for this power issue...

I used a UPS.
