Hello everybody !
Congratulations, I discovered UBNT last month and the products are very nice, I have one Nanostation 2 and one Bullet 2.
I have 2 questions:
1/ I'd like to use the SDK to customized the products (we work in industrial environments). It isn't very clear for a beginner, can you tell me where I can found a tutorial explaining how install, compil, etc...
2/ Is it possible to do fast roaming with the bullet (or with another UBNT product ) ?
Thanks for your help

Hello,
1) Check Linux forums on using SDK's to compile firmware.
2) No we do not have fast roaming capabilities at this time.
Thanks
Mike

What is fast roaming?
I heard that phrase used when high divorce rates were discussed.

What is fast roaming?
Fast Roaming is used in Cisco type devices to minized handoff times between AP's. You can get down a few microseconds jumping from AP to AP. This is for secure roaming, like when using VPN and switching between AP's there wont be an intteruption in VPN. Also some network applications require this too.
No sub 500 dollar AP will do this efficiently.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike. So given a bullet talking to a client. What would you estimate the handoff time to be? I'm testing a device on the client side designed just for that purpose.

Hello rconaway.
Fast Roaming is an AP based feature.
Client roaming (jumping from one client to another ) is handled solely by that clients wireless driver. Like our SRC/SRX cards have about a 1-2 second handoff time.
Thanks,
Mike

Understood. I'll test that in a few days with a Pepwave CarFi and tell you how it works.

Hello rconaway,
Any results with the Carfi?

Mike or anyone:
Question: Wouldn't the Mobility Driver allow you to do the same thing with a wireless card like the SR71C in a laptop? Or, am I misunderstanding something here?

Hello,
The roaming driver does work for SRC and SRX in a laptop. SR71C and SR71-USB do not have fast roaming capabilities as they are controlled by windows.
Thanks,
Mike
