We have been having troubles with installations. We do a quick test to find the best place to locate a radio on a client location, then run cable, etc. After it is all ready to go, we turn it back on and it won't connect anymore. We end up replacing the radio and the new one works fine. We take the old one back to the office and it seems to work fine there. When it is doing this, you can still scan and see AP's, but can't connect to any of them. I noticed today also that when doing this, if I go to tx power and set it to fixed rates, the numbers keep bouncing from 16 to 0 to 16 to 0 about once per second or two.

I also noticed today that if I shut off the radio for 5 minutes and then turn it back on, that it connected up just fine. Not sure if that will be the case every time or not, but it was today.

Any ideas?

Hey Tom,

Can you try a different router board?

Thanks,

Mike

Do you mean to not use these boards anymore, this is happening to more than one cpe. If you don't like me to use Mikrotik 411 boards, then what would you recommend.

Hello Tom,

I do apologize for the misunderstanding. I merely meant for you to try the card on another RB411 to see if there was a MikroTik hardware problem.

How many XR3's do you have that are exhibiting this problem? If you switch to manual TX power control in teh MikroTik and set the Maximum power to say 12dB does the problem still occur?

Thanks,

Mike

We have had 3 or 4 cpes that this has happened to. I only noticed the power thing yesterday. When I tried to set the power to a fixed rate, it didn't matter what I put in there, it still bounced from whatever I put in to 0 and back again. Strange. Since these radios checked ok when we brought them back to the office, we have used them elsewhere.
