Any chance of this happening? I think I asked this before but can't seem to find it. This becomes crucial in municipal wireless systems where you want a more secure connection where public IP SSID's are broadcast and a private government one is not. If you can do 3-4 SSID's, then you can segment off different departments but I would be thrilled with just 2.

This also might be kind of harder than I was thinking. It would be better if security could be applied to 1 SSID and not to the other.

You are probably right. However, in the more public environments, the density of government users will typically never be more than 1 or 2 per AP at a time. And public users won't be that many either. If there are many public users, you add more AP's.

I'm not running any government communications over 2.4GHz, just video and it's on 5.8GHz WPA over WDS on a PTMP system. What I'm proposing is for a standard municipal WiFi system with these features.

Public internet is not my first concern. That can be open. The hops between radios should be encrypted back to the egress point and the connection between the city vehicle and the AP should be secured. That would be ideal. Assuming that's not possible, then we will need VPN tunnels to the end users that we will create with routers or software.

We will also be running IDS/IPS software so if somebody is tinkering around, we should be able to catch them pretty easily.
