Greetings,
I am having a router running MikrotikOS with a few wireless interfaces and one ethernet so i connect it with the rest of my network. Till yesterday i used to have a wireless interfaces working as Access Point and a VirtualAP on the same interface working as Hotspot.
Planning to get a Bullet2 to replace that interface of the Access Point and the Hotspot (2 SSID's on the same antenna), i am wondering how will i set it up.
First, is it possible to plug the Bullet to the ethernet switch or should i install a second ethernet interface on the router?
Second, in which mode should the AirOS work and how exactly should i setup the router?

Has anybody made something like that before? As far as i have searched the forum i couldn't find an answer.

I would appreciate any help

You need to set the bullet as an access point having the same ssid as what you had on your mikrotik then have the lan of the bullet plugged to the ethernet of your mikrotik (which routerboard) the the hotspot should be on the interface that has the bullet connected to

hi,

we have seen far better performance from a bridged bullet on a MT RB ethernet port than what we got from using the RB onboard mini-pci slot and a radio card.

seems the MT board , even a fast one, still struggles with wireless direct.

Virtual AP is not an option jet on AirOS. If you needed, you can do it running DD-wrt software on bullet.

hi,

Virtual AP has its uses, we used to use it but as some radios, inc UBNT ones dont like AP's with virtual AP's on them too much we stopped using them. no great loss though.
