Ubiquity hal and madwifi hal

Hello all,
I am using openwrt with madwif drivers and madwifi hal. The radios that we use are SR5s. I would like to know that , if I wanted maximum power out of the SR5 should I use the ubiquity hal. Could you also tell me the difference in performance if I use ubiquity hal over madwifi hal.
