I have a link at 2.4 that is 1.1mi. with trees obstructing the path. The link has been solid for several months at around -75. I was concerned when we got heavy snowfall that the link would not hold up. I was suprised to see the signal increase by around 10db. Now that the snow is melting, the signal is headed down to where it was before. Microwave propogation study is not an art, or a science, it's magic.
It doesn't surprise me the snow had no effect. Ever try to melt ice cubes in the microwave?

No It's not a magic. Snow have better propagation for microwaves (especially 2,4) when radiations is already emitted. Microwaves bounce from snow surface at little angle so it's possible that signal is even better. But when you want to push signal through trees with snow cover - signal will be very poor. Possible that signal doesn't break trees with snow.

This situation is a great illustration of microwave dispersion effect. It's not a magic :)
and the -75dbm signal is little to low I think...
I make conections between -52 to - 70 , cose when will be more stations near this your connection, the nois will be to loud :/
I hed it in my city, when I start make networks, thats no problem, but when now here is something about 25 other stations in 2,4Ghz(others WISP) I have a problems with low signal connectios..
Instal a more powerfull antennas
