Just a post of a few points for the UBNT team. Just some things I've wanted to know, but really don't have the answers to.

1.) You have the best price/performance on the market. Why are the new exciting products (bullets, loco's, etc) produced in low numbers upon release?

2.)This begs a wider question..... Why do I find UBNT products in such short supplies overall? Most of the distributors tell me that UBNT gear is chronically hard to keep in stock due to supplies being inadequate.

3.) UBNT has a very large selection of products, but many of them have been known to us for some time, but have yet to be released? Why such a lag between announcement and delivery? Why not make the announcement when they are on the freighter coming from china, instead of months before production?

4.) I'm wondering why we have not seen a 900mhz packaged solution yet from UBNT? It's obviously in demand from looking around the forums. Not to mention an LSX board with a SR9 or XR9 and a case would be simple and off the shelf, and could be approved by FCC and IC the same way a PS2EXT probably was. Produced in volume and packaged we would see prices in the affordable ranges I'm sure.

5.) Is a bullet 9 within the realm of possibility?

6.) I have extensive options in the 5ghz and 2.4 ranges...... say I have a 10 mile shot I need to do. A PS2DP, PS2-22, NS2 with external antenna, PS2 with external antenna, and a bullet2........and thats just my 2.4 options. Are some of the supply issues related to having too wide a product line and too many products to produce?

7.) I've been told by a distributor that UBNT will be moving to larger production runs but less frequently. Will this exacerbate an already problematic supply? If the stocks are depleted between production runs, how will we be able to expand out UBNT based ISP's?

Don't read this as a flame, it's not intended to be, nor should it be construed as one. I've just been interested in the general supply issues and such, more or less to try to come up with a plan to deploy as much UBNT gear as possible, without finding myself in a situation with expansion plans and using inferior products.

I've done that with Deliberant........ easy to get, no supply issues..... but in my climate and weather situations we have seen very high failure rates. UBNT has been rock solid, but we find it hard to get. So sometimes I'm forced to use inferior gear and end up replacing it later.

I want 100% UBNT gear in my system, but I'm struggling to achieve that.

Hello Pinion,

Sorry I dont spend much time in the Lounge so I missed this post:

1) Its hard to guage the interest of particular products. We ramp production up based on demangd.

2) The sell like hotcakes, more then we anticipated.

3) We get or products known, and sometimes unforseen circumstances arise. Manufacturing is harder then you may think ;)

4) The size of the antenna is the limiting factor and requires a form factor change from all of our other devices. This is the reason we have not prodcued one yet, and also due to a small market.

5) Nope, size limitations again.

6) No, each product is a separate production line.

7) I have not heard this, we are trying to meet demand as best we can now.

No bad feeling, im happy to help!

Thanks Mike, that clarifies some things. I'm also finding better suppliers for UBNT and they seem to have better luck stocking most of what I need. However, many products in your line are still hard to find.

I hope you are able to get things in the supply chain working better. I have been chatting a little with ben about a possible large deployment, hopefully supply issues will be resolved by then.

My only issue with stock is that most of the resellers either have inaccurate inventory, or no ability to check inventory online without an email and a day or two wait or a phone call and 10-15 minutes.

Of course, this is more of a size / integration issue with the resellers, but I'd like to see more online product availability.

I have a local reseller down in Austin, but they don't stock hardly any of the products (at least that I can easily find on their website, the interface stinks), and I can never tell if they have it in stock, thus I end up ordering from someone half the country away.
