This is stepping off the deep end in terms of a "feature" request, but here goes.

How about a specialized high power PoE switch. Basically it's a 5 port switch with PoE on each port, however the switch itself is also fed via PoE.

Switch gets it's power from a non-standard high power injector, switch can then power itself and supply power to 4-5 devices plugged into it. Give it a simple interface with the ability to power cycle a PoE port.

Someone already makes a device like this but I can't find the link, and I don't think it had any management features.

Just seems like it would be really handy at the top of a tower with a few Nanostations running off of it. Would also help consolidate PoE equipment at small sites.

You might be thinking of a high power 48 volt PoE fed switch that feeds 48 PoE to the LAN ports. That's not gonna work for the 12-24 volt UBNT line.

I have never heard of a 12 volt PoE switch. I'd just cobble together an in-house thing...Oh, wait, we already have that in-house.

It was sort of like that but it only took in 48v on the uplink side, the ports used to share the power across the switch ports would operate at a lower power setting. Depending on the design there should be enough power to operate a few 15-20w devices off that one switch.

I think the main idea is to have an outdoor ready 5 port switch at the top of a tower only requiring a single cable vs. 4-5, and I guess if you're going to go that far might as well add some useful features to it.
