Any ideas of how to add xDSL support to a routerstation? (Apart from PPPoE via external modem)..

I'm not sure what you are asking.

DSL (regardless of version) requires a modem interface). Sicne you mentioned something otehr than an external modem, I assume you are asking if the Routerstation has an "internal" modem. I don't think you'll see that as an offering when using an external one is so much easier and for UBNT to start R&D work on DSL would dilute their primary efforts.

Now when you mentioned PPoE, that's where I'm not sure what you are asking. Well..I could make some intelligent guesses...but still.

Hello Berry,

This unit does not have a built in DSL modem.

Thank you,

Mike

Ah ok. Well, basically the question is: how can I DSL-enable an RS?
This can't be PPPoE though - the interface needs to be presented in the RS OS. Ideally this would be PPPoA, driven by the OS (userspace/kernel).
I might be able to live with bridging if anyone can confirm this is a workable solution.

A USB modem would be ideal!

I guess I expected this to be a common enough issue for someone to have an answer off the top of their head.

Any suggestions?

I am also interested by this.
a better idea would probably to find something like a mini-pci dsl card

Agreed.. however it doesn't look like such a thing exists. There wouldn't be much of a market for these, which combined with the challenges of implementing a safe and certified PSTN-connected mini PCI card makes it unlikely that one will appear.

It looks like OpenWRT has drivers for the Speedtouch 330 USB ADSL modem.

They're a bit old now, but the spec says up to 8mb/s and they're very cheap on ebay, like 99p.
