Hello Everyone.

My company wants to provide the local area with free wireless internet access and access to media sharing. they want to have the largest possible area and the fastest possible connection.

they want to have a N class network using wpa-psk tkip to tie in with existing networks

What sort of distances are we talking about with wireless n networks and what kind of speeds could we expect to see with products like the pico station and powerstation.

Thanks

A few cans of Reality Spray in managements' Christmas stockings...

largest possible area and the fastest possible connection
are mutually exclusive.

Speed, distance, reliability, cost...pick three

Why type N? Its MIMO technology is really ineffective past a few hundred feet.

A roof top mounted Nanostation or Nanostation LoCo set for 24 Mbps data setting will give you just under a mile distance for an end user experience of 12 Mbps with a 20 dB fade margin.

The "pointy haired boss" read an online blog about how that N thing is the gold standard for speed and has decreed his underlings to deploy it.

So they'll find some sucker to bid on the job without any service level guarantees, the sucker will use industry standard, best practices...the pointy haired boss will pull out his laptop five miles away from the nearest access point and try to open up thirty connections of streaming video.

Now...tell me how far off my prediction will be.
