Thought I would let you guys know I tested 2 of my bullet5's tonight. First, I set one up on the roof at my work with a 27db grid antenna. I Pointed it at a mountain that had easy road access and drove up and set up a 22db grid and the other bullet plugged into my little Acer aspire one laptop. To my surprise it picked up the signal immediately :D. Aimed the antenna around a little to dial the best signal and the link was blazing along downloading at 3mb a sec. (24 Megabits!) We have a 50/20 Connection at work. :) Pings to the other router were a endless stretch of 2ms

I was getting -74 signal strength. Although it could prob get a lot better as I just guestimated the antenna direction at the office. I had no way to go down there and dial that antenna in.

I was using 40mhz channel width with all the fast frames, compression, etc turned on.

This was a 9.6 mile shot according to google earth. This was a simple test to see how well 5ghz would actually work. (This is my first time using 5ghz)

I know a lot of you guys do this type of link all day long. This is the first time i've been able to set up a link like that with that kind of speed without really even trying!

It was pretty strange being in the middle of nowhere with a ridiculously fast internet connection like that lol cool stuff!

Here are a few pics I snapped really quick. Sorry for the low quality.

Cool pics. This weekend I'm gonna try a balloon Bullet 5 with inverted omni antenna.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I'm working on a 7.5 mile link and hope to have the same success.

One question though, is the POE kit powered by your truck? cigarette lighter? I've seen pic's of WHT's truck with the camera array and all, and was wondering how everything gets lit.

Its just a simple 110v power inverter wired to the battery and then plugged into the POE. You can get one at wal mart for $20 if you just want to power small loads like this :D

HAHHAHAH.......You can get one at wal mart... At UBNT's incredible price point, we may see a WalLoco2 and WalBullet2.

I have another mount of 1½" grey outdoor PVC I'll get pics of tomorrow.

I tested my first Bullet 5 today. Set up about 5 miles from a tower. The ap on the tower was a MT 411, Alpha AWPC1085H 500mw card, and Hyperlink 16dbi 90 degree sector.

I didn't have time to do throughput tests, but recorded these stats on the tower end - Signal Strength / Tx Signal Strength / SNR

Bullet 5 directly connected on back of Hyperlink 26dbi grid --- 68 69 33
NS5 with pigtail connected to the same grid -- 68 69 33
NS5 with Internal antenna -- 78 78 22

It seems to be an exact match of the NS5, but It did appear to have better Tx CCQ than the NS5

Next time put the Tripod on the roof of your car to clear the shrubs you may get a better signal
