View Full Version : Mounting units with white cable ties

While I think the mounting design is good and simple, I'd like to warn users that white nylon cable ties may fail after a couple of years because of the solar UV radiation (unless Ubiquiti has come up with some very unusual tie material). I install many things on boats where white cable ties will become brittle and break after a couple of years. Black 'UV resistant' ties will last much longer and cost only cents more. For customers who mount units in remote places it would be safest to use black ties or even metal hose clamps (which will also ensure a well fixed position).

Thanks, Ubiquiti for coming up with amazing wifi equipment.

White cable ties don't even last one Texas summer...black ones fail after two years. Use metal hose clamps.

if we use the straps then we stick some mean adhesive behind the brackets first onto the pole so when the straps fail it remains :)

You use straps.... here we use ALAMBRE ( single steel wire twisted at the ends ) and remains for ever :-)

Hello,

In harsh enviroments I would recommend the use of metal hose type clamps.

Thanks,

Mike
