I am considering buying a NanoStation2 to replace an Engenius product. What happens with the NanoStation 2 when there is a momentary signal interruption? Is there a long delay to re-connect? I am on my second Engenius eoc-2610 unit and it reboots every time there is a dip in the signal. This causes a lot of down time as it takes 1-2 minutes to come back up. How much better off would I be with a NanoStation? There is an 800 ft. distance between my access point and my wireless bridge.

Is the Engenius actually rebooting or just trying to renegotiate the connect?

BTW...The NS has an option to reboot with a ping watchdog shoul dyou need such a function.

I think it is actually rebooting because I can't access the web admin panel while it is happening and the internal clock it keeps for logs goes back to its start date. Engenius Tech support said it could be a reset switch that is malfunctioning, but since I'm on my second RMA-ed unit that has this problem, I think it's a signal problem. The rebooting becomes less frequent if I change to a less noisy channel. It gets old changing the channel all the time to find the clearest one though. I have a usb wireless network adapter that does an excellent job at staying connected to the access point, but I have to hang it out the window on a long extension cord to get a signal. It gets wet when it rains and it's too cold to do that in the winter.

Hello Scott,

For something like this, if the AP signal is interrupted, the NS will take between 5-15 seconds to reconnect.

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks Mike. The 5 to 15 seconds to reconnect sounds a lot more reasonable than the 1 to 2 minutes I am experiencing with the Engenius device.

Hey Scott,

Ya that is strange that a product would reboot after loosing connectivity.

Anyways glad to help.

Mike
