Just wanted to post how well the Nano Stations have been working for us... I purchased a couple of EnGenius 2610 for a trial Vs the Nano's . The Nano stations are definitely a superior radio for us. You have our business.

Thanks for your hard work in getting this product on the market !

Engenius HW is really garbage. I don't know why we even bother supporting it.

+ why dd-wrt is selling it on there online shop.

how ever in that type of hardware segment ubnt is the only option for me at
the moment

I just recently wrote to Sash yesterday asking why he is negative toward the EOC 2610 on a Ubiquiti site but has positive glowing reviews for it on his DDWRT site. Haven't heard from him yet but I think there is a monetory conflict of interest somewhere in there.

i even dont know what sash is complaining here. it would also maybe not a good idea to post critism here on ubnt products. this is a ubiquiti place and i dont want to tell whats better and whats not. we tested a EOC5610 vs NS5 last week at a distance of 16 km (AP was a avila gateworks with XR5 card and a sector antenna and the same setup with a XR2 + sector antenna). we will post throughput measurements and setup pictures in our forum as soon as we finished our tests. the NS2 as well as the NS5 is a good product with some disavantages. the external rp-sma has about 6 dbm power loss due the board layout design. the internal antenna itself is very good for its dimensions. the EOC2610 has almost the same power and antenna gain specs and does not show a big difference from the ns2. the external rp-sma connector is better in any way. we had problems in the first days since it has a weired internal antenna routing which introduced some problems in firmware development. finally i'm sure we solved it.

so to make it short
advantages
NS2/NS5 - antenna polarity switchable, smaller, antenna routing software configurable, easy installation of alternative firmwares, price
EOC2610/EOC5610 - more robust enclosure, 32 mb ram, 8 mb flash

disavantages
NS2/NS5 - big power loss on external rp-sma connector, reset button easy breakable
EOC2610/EOC5610 - no software switch for external / internal antenna (hw switch), some early hardware revisions are bad in output power

that are the facts from my own experiences and from customer reports i got

finally everyone has to decide for himself whats better and whats not. DD-WRT is a software project and we try to stay neutral in hardware support

and a final note:
Sash is not a employee of dd-wrt. he is a supporter and answering alot of questions in our forum. but thats all

Im agree with ferrisj.. I bougth an engenius 2610.. and I had a very strange problem.. so I changed with nanostation and worked perfectly..

the problemas was that the 2610 disconnect every 10sec..
1) wasnt the signals, SNR 40 both side
2) my AP is mikrotik with engenius miniPCI 600mW (8602+S)
3) I tried several version of original firmware,
4) I changed the Lan cable, the power source, everything

I didnt know yet what was the problem.. but Im happy now with nanostation and AirOS

On Mikrotik, enable "wireless info" in logging section and post disconnection error...

i want to add some technical informations about the eoc2610. we discovered some problems with the internal antenna diversity control. the original atheros driver senao is using, has a very interesting bug which leads to the problem that the wrong antenna output will be used. we where be able to reproduce this problem on the eoc2610 direct.
the ns2 does not seem to suffer from this issue.

so brainslayer with ur firmware u repair the bugs ? or its a hardware bug ?

Dear ALL !

Please DO NOT BUY that device !

I buy more than 30 pcs of EOC-2610 , I make all updates and all possibility config for that devices - result I loss 2 big customers, time (6 month) and money.

The facts:
1. EOC-2610 not work stable with all firmwares.
2. "SuperG" mode not work at all.
3. Not has difference you work in "B" or "G" modes you get max throughput 3-4 Mb/s not more, I make tests with IxChariot , than consult with Senao "engineers".
4. When you try send 3-4 Mb/s time of replay up to 800-1200 ms !!!
5. Work in very little range without ext antenna - 300-400m.
6. With ext grid antenna 26dbi I establish link at 8 km but get packet losses and max throughput are 150-300 kb/sec with time of replay 400-600 ms.

If you need more informations about EOC-2610 - contact with me :

Good day ALL !

I use latest firmware v 1.0.39 from

http://www.engeniustech.com/datacom/

Also today my little story with EOC-2610:

Today I build little network with EOC-2610 with star topology and get
cool problem :
Central EOC work in AP mode with external Omni 18 dbi antenna and ends
(5xEOC) work in client-bridge modes at own internal antenna ( all ends see
AP at -50-60 dbi and AP see ends at -50-60 dbi too) - typical and very
simple configuration - but in real life that not work !

Because 1 client need to be restricted with bandwidth 2Mb/s ,that client has
lots of traffic > 4Mb/sec and central AP going down in several minutes (5-15
min) only after I plug that client ( in the first - time of request gouging
from 1-3 ms to 300-400-900-... ms then lots of requests time outs, than AP
are dead but are visible in RF - I make check that from different EOC at
star ends) that are known for me EOC bug (only pwr down and up returns AP in
work condition).

OK I set in wireless advanced settings Data rate to 1Mb/s ( "B"-mode) at
client EOC - but that not helps me - central AP going down again only after
I plug client (DVR) !!!! That client not use as gateway for net.

Only after I plug D-link DIR-100 in switch mode between DVR and client EOC
(DVR -> lan DIR100 wan -> EOC) and set at D-link 2MB/sec at both ethernet
ports(wan and lan) and set Data rate et EOC in Auto helps me : now client
ping to AP 3-70 ms -ok, bandwidth are restricted and full with DVR traffic,
another clients ping AP and each other with stable 3-7 ms, AP - work several
hours not going down at now.

My question : WHY ? I agree client CPU are in busy state because from lan
gouging 3-4 Mb/sec and at RF are limit at 1 Mb/s - but that are only client
EOC problem not AP problem - AP gets from client EOC only 1 Mb/sec not more
(see at up) - but AP CPU are in very busy state too !!! - because ping from
another clients to AP and each other are 300-400-.. ms then AP going down...

Regards,
Ernast
