Morning all,

I'm tested and toying with a project to provide wireless access to a medium city area.
What i would idealy like to do is setup a access point (was thinking nanostations2) that can be plugged into a internet connection and will allow clients to connect to it.
-It would need to be able to disallow access to the local internet subnet (ie the subnet between the AP and the router).
-It would need to be a captive portal with RADIUS AAA.
-I would need to be able to set overall max bandwith usage limits on the AP.

Has anyone done anything like this before? Idea's?

Thanks and i'll try to keep you all updated.

for captive portal take a old PC and make a PFsense router
PFsense an also do AAA Radius

For a Radius Server Google Free Radius

to block AP---Router ....please explain what you want coz that would make the internet not work on th SM side

a project to provide wireless access to a medium city area. $10,000 to $20,000 per square, but two of us have ideas to bring it down to $3,000 per square mile.

You can use a routerboard with a mini pci. The system can offer you several ways to control bandwidth.
