Ive read all the topics ... is there anyone who has no problems with the SRX card? Ive just got my SRX ... tried it on linux ... no success. Next i tried it on XP ... after installing the drivers everything looked fine except the SRX cant detect my home network ?! I tried it with 13dBi antenna ... and then finally ive got weak signal? "This translates into the longest range & highest bandwidth of any WiFi card on earth" <--- so far all my wireless cards has better range. Can u please help me understand why ive spend 150$ on that card.

PS. Sorry for my sick english.

Hello,

What type of laptops have you tried this device on?

Thanks,

Mike

Yes, the SRX is terrible. I bought one a few months ago. The signal strength is weak, there is no x64 support for XP, and nobody here seems to be responding to our problems.

I loved my SRC card, so I've also been disappointed with the SRX card. The SRC could pull in routers from HUGE distances. The SRX actually has less range than my built-in wireless. (a charge that pops up frequently on here). My Dell Draft-N card blows the SRX out of the water, which is something I never thought would happen.

I actually set up my old laptop with the SRC and sat it right next to my newer laptop and compared, it was pretty sad.

I don't know if they're underpowered, or if they were afraid of the FCC cracking down and they knee-capped the SRX or what, but man it makes me sad.

My SRX works great. I remember when I first put it in there were similiar problems. After installing the most recent drivers it works great under windows. Also, I've gotten mine to work in linux after installing the latest SVN build of MadWifi-ng drivers, even reinjects with Aircrack-ng patches.

The biggest problem with the SRX (iMO) is the 5006 chipset. For some unknown reason it seems like the red headed stepchild of the Atheros line. A lot of 3rd party drivers do not offer support for it, but support > 5006 and < 5006.

Another option, if your into wireless security, is Russix. Russix is a live wireless auditing Linux Distro configured specifically for the SRX and SRC.

If you are, as I am, disappointed that the SRX cannot currently be used with Vista 64-bit, I have a suggestion as to what you can do while waiting for a 64-bit driver from Ubiquiti.

I purchased a Long Range WiFi to USB Adapter with Antenna Connector from JEFA Tech. It's the WL-USB-200. I would prefer to use an Express Card version like the Ubiquiti SRX, but there doesn't seem to be one that is compatible with Vista 64-bit that has an external antenna connector, at least not that I could find.

I use a roof-top yagi antenna and communicate with wifi signals from several miles away!

You can locate the above-mentioned adapter by using Google search.
