Hi All,

I noticed that the new XR2 cards now come with a grounding cable. Do you know if this is for DC ground or RF ground?

Best regards,
Daniel G.

Hi Daniel,

This is actually a DC ground connection to protect the RF circuitry.

Please look at this report for more details:

You should deff utilize this as we fought tooth and nail to get this on the cards so that it would lesson the chance of a power surge to the card. If you dont use this its only a matter of time before static wipes you , especially if your using omni antennas

Hello UBNT,

I am curious about the grounding strap. I have read the PDF referenced in this thread but I am wondering why XR2 ships with the Grounding wire and XR9 does not?

Does XR9 also have the same grounding circuitry and should it also be grounded, the same as XR2?

Thanks for any response.

Hi,

You are correct; XR9 does not have the same ESD protector circuit; so make sure to use DC-Grounded Antennas.

Hi,

I have have XR2 and XR5, and the XR5 do not come with the earth grounding cable. Do we need it? If yes, where do we connect?
