I meant a tool where you put in the distance, the height of the device and the beamwidth angle of the device, that was funny

Vary Nice
Thanks
I don't know why, but when you download the .XLS file and open it with Open Office, it opens as a read-only file. Just copy and paste the section into a new document and save it in a different location form where it was downloaded.
you can makes the feet to meters, miles to KM in the actual formula line.

For users in the US you should check out the "Green Bay Professional Packet Radio" website. near the bottom of the page there are links for doing microwave radio path analysis. They use the information from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission, Version 2 elevation data for terrain generation so it appears to be very accurate.
I will not post the URL as that may change but just do a search on the name.
SRTM 2 data has been processed with for better accuracy. Version 1 would give erroneous elevations for very flat items, like a lake. It was also off by as much as 50 meters. Radio Mobile STRM derived elevations would say one point was the highest, but when I hiked out there, the highest point was like 50 meters off to one side.
So far I've found Version 2 to be accurate within a few meters. I've rode my horse out to about a dozen geodetic sites in two counties and verified the data.
Sample report:

The RM Land Coverage add-on is pretty accurate. Though it has shown tree lines that really aren't that high, or even there.
