What is the best way to test the speed over an AirMax link if I am on the AP side of a connection and the end user is on the base side?

iperf or jperf. to do this you will need a computer runing the iperf or jperf server on one side and the client on the other. what we do is just have a speedtest.net server running at our core that is public, and then once the client is "online" you can run the speedtest to demonstrate speed. But to get a true throughput test we have found that jperf works the best.

I understand this is a possibility if I am on the client side, but I would like to be able to test from the AP side. I can't setup a computer to run iperf on the client side.

iperf is part of the AirOS command shell. You can ssh into the CPE and AP radios and setup iperf to run speed tests between the cpe and AP.

Just setup the iperf -s on whatever side you want to test to and run iperf -c ipaddress on the radio you are testing from. All iperf command switches work so you can setup the number of streams etc.

Used it many times in testing the ubiquiti stuff.

Keep in mind that running any test from the AP or CPE will use part of the processing power to generate the speedtest data. You will see much better results if you test through the devices.
