Mike,
I have been using the Jperf testing method per your tutorial and its great. We are trying out chariot before purchase and having some difficulty configuration wise. Would you mind putting out a similar simple tutorial for beginner testing with chariot?

Thanks in advance,
Claudio

Hey Claudio,

What version of chariot are you using? Let me know and I can send you the test script.

Thanks,

Mike

5.4. I have the test scripts that came with it but setting up the endpoints and so forth are not that easy. I will definitely take the scripts. Just looking for some help on setting up the test environment. I have multiple links and networks for most applications. I'm in the irc chat also if that helps.

Thanks
Claudio

Hey Claudio,

Should be straigh forward. Just install the Ixia endpoint on the computer you want to run traffic too (set it up on both sides as well).

From there just add pairs with the Ip information from Computer 1 to Computer 2. Add a second pair with Ip frm computer 2 to computer 1.

Thanks,,

MIke

Hey Claudio,

Make sure your firewall is not blocking the ports/program. Also make sure there is a reachable IP address on the other end.

Thanks,

Mik

I typed the ip on the one side wrong. Now it does communicate but i get another error.

CHR0124: Partner program sent data that could not be successfully parsed.

I think its because i am using the newer endpoint software and not the version for 5.4

Im gonna try the old one now.

Thanks
Claudio

Now it is past that point but saying there is no partner program is waiting.

Error was detected at Sun Dec 13 16:16:23 2009
Error was detected by the Console.
CHR0204: No partner program is waiting to accept this
TCP Sockets connection.
The info message was:
CHR0316: Error working with the test file (untitled).
Pair 1, Console to 192.168.2.128

The log message was:
CHR0211:
Partner address: 192.168.2.128
Service Quality:
Partner port number: 10115
Communications errno: 10061
Call: connect

Working on this now. Both firewalls are shutdown on both ends. Windows 7 boxes. This is what i meant by having trouble. Not an easy app to use.

Cheers
Claudio

Still working on getting chariot to work. I'm sure this has come up before but I am really curious as to why the rates in AirOS are not accurate at all. Not even by calculation. I don't see the point of them being there if they don't mean anything and I have to test the link anyway to see the actual throughput that I have. Curious as to whether or not this is normal practices for these types of products or if a fix will come for them to be accurate or have some sort of % of accuracy. This of course applies to the speed test built into AirOS.

Thanks
Claudio

Hello Claudio,

Are you talking about the associated data rates?

Thanks,

Mike

I am simply talking about the data rates shown on the station side of the AirOS main page. They will say the data rate TX and RX that the link has. You have said more than once that these are no where near accurate so I was curious of the purpose behind them and if anything will change.

Thanks
Claudio
