View Full Version : v.7.7 Driver - No Revision History - Diversity?

Howdy - I'm seeing that there's no revision history for the new (7.7) driver. What's the story with diversity? I checked the docs also, but there's nothing new.

I see that in XP Device Manager -> UBNT ... -> Advanced Tab

there is an "Antenna Diversity" setting, that can be Controllable, Fixed-A or Fixed-B.

Excuse my ignorance, but what do I do with this? If it's on "Controllable" then is there somewhere that I have to do to adjust some setting? Or, do I just attach the antenna? If it's on Fixed-A, then does it just use a single antenna? (Which one?) How 'bout Fixed-B? Does any of this do anything in this version of the driver?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Controllable - means that driver determinates which antenna to use. In other words it does the antenna diversity on.
Fixed - it is clear. Driver uses the specified antenna.

It would be nice to switch from "Fixed A" to "Fixed B" through Ubiquiti Client Utility and not from XP Device Manager.
What does it mean "Controllable"...from where?
Can you implement a new version of Client Utility in this regard or we have to think that our SRC cards are almost discountinued products.
Awaiting for an answer.

Fact is that the Support Forum Staff sucks! The only thing they can do is to supply generic answers...I'll never buy Ubiquiti anymore.

Generic questions usually can be answered by generic answers. Anything beyond generic answers may be outside their support boundaries.

Good to hear you won't be buying UBNT anymore. That leaves more for us to buy.

Hello,

I do apologize you feel this way but the answer was very clear.

The client Utility will not have this option and the antenna is set to Fixed A in 7.7. You can go to the advanced properties of the driver and change it if you like.

Thanks,
Mike

This kind of guys can make a Company bankrupted very quickly with their mentality and behaviour (it's clear that he doesn't know the easiest commerce rules)...I hope for Ubiquiti that he doesn't work/collaborate with them and will never do it.

Mike

Thanks Mike for the answer (answering is at least a sign of courtesy).
For truth to tell the previous anwers were not clear enough.
Now, since you have written that even future version will not have that option (I believe there is a good reason behind this) I will just forget it and continue to select the antenna from the driver properties.

Its called support boundaries. If you buy a new car, it is not the responsibility for the car dealership to teach you to drive.

The purpose of a support forum is for users having problems beyond the basic setup of UBNT products when they try to integrate it with THEIR own equipment. If you buy a Linksys, Dlink, or Belkin router and can't get it to work with a UBNT product...its because YOU have not configured YOUR equipment properly for the settings you chose for your UBNT equipment.

As anyone reading these forums knows, I have gone to get lengths in helping users trying to set up their system with non-UBNT products.

You question was, "It would be nice to switch from "Fixed A" to "Fixed B" through Ubiquiti Client Utility and not from XP Device Manager." and Mike gave you a workable answer.

As for your comment, "(it's clear that he doesn't know the easiest commerce rules)", its clear that you don't know the first rule of asking for help...you don't say the support staff sucks and then expect them to go out of their way to help you.

Dear WHT,

from my point of view there are 5 facts:

1) you are not part of UBNT Support staff and I personally don't need your lessons
2) UBNT Support staff doesn't need your defense, they can do it by themselves
3) you do not have any title to teach people how to behave in this Forum since you are not an Administrator
4) if you carefully read again the previous messages I made a bad comment only because I didn't received a clear answer (I was not the only one waiting for it) for more than 1 month.
Nevertheless the first words written by Mike Ford have been "I do apologize..." and this is the right way to behave with customers. Far away from your mentality.
5) this 3D has been visited 1356 times that menas a lot of people found/find it interesting probably because we are not WiFi Geniuses like you

For me this is a closed 3D, I will not reply anymore to other messages.
