Since last week I have been looking for technical support for SR71-USB module and I was not successful. But finally I am writing mail to you to get quick answer to select your component for our need. I hope Ben moore has our volume need.

Our requirement for WiFi Dongle.

We have industrial PC which is running on Windows Embedded standard and it has one USB host port. For our application we are developing web pages on this industrial PC and our requirement is to access this web pages running on this industrial PC from WiFi device (Laptop or Mobile phone). We are looking for WiFi module which has USB device interface. Pls see below detailed spec for WiFi Module

1. Interface - USB 2.0 device
2. Operating Temperature range = -10C to +85C
3. Operating System = Window XPe
4. FCC and CE certified
5. Compliant with 802.11b, 802.11g and "802.11n draft" standards 6
6. Support the encryption WPA2 defined in 802.11i
7. WiFi range should be upto 30meter Max

With the above requirements we are in the process of selecting the SR71 - USB Module (http://www.ubnt.com/products/sr71usb.php) and to confirm our selection we need following technical clarification very quickly

1. In your website extn temperature range mentioned that -20C to +95C degree. Does it meant that this module meets Operating Temperature range -20 to +95C?

2. What is the difference between normal version (-20C to +70C) and Extn Temp range version(-20C to +95C) in term of size and other technical aspects?

3. Why do this module needs two antenna? What is the function? What is meant by Long / Short Antenna?

4. Can we mange with one antenna for our requirement? if so which antenna?

5. Is it mandatory to use your antenna or can we select our own antenna according to our space constraint?

6. Is the FCC id for with Antenna or Without Antenna?

7. Can you help us giving small patch for Windows XPE driver. Since our application need Windows XPe driver? OR suggest us some method to do??

8. How to control the antenna on / Off

Pls clarify above points. Your clarification is very important to take decision for selecting your module. This is very very urgent (since I already lost two weeks) for project.

We are waiting for your reply to take decision.

hi i can answer some of your questions:

1. this is the operating temperature range of the device.

3. this is for MIMO, multiple in mutiple out. 802.11n uses 2x2 antenna arrays systems to increase range and throughput.

4. Yes you can manage with one antenna, plug into the one on the right if you are looking at the device with the logo facing up (the one that has the green light on)

5. You can use any antenna you like providing it has a MMCX connection - you could use connector converters, but you will only induce additional loss in to the system

6. This means that it the device complies with FCC regulatory requirements.

7. The device comes with its own client utility, but you can use windows zero config if you like - you would need ensure that the application will integrate with the device as most wireless applications require specific drivers - ie Airmagnet, Ekahau etc

8. If you want to turn the device off, you could use the Client Utility but you can just disable the device in network connections.

good luck

:)

Hello,

The problem lies in that we do not produce any Windows XP Embedded drivers.

Thanks,

Mike
