I have discovered an issue with noise floor on UB5 cards. I have six card from different series : WM080261903424, WM080261903442, WM080261903647, WM080234704128, WM090129102816. On all cards with Routerboard 433 i have noise floor over -90dB. I have checked it with different Routerboards such as 532, 153, 133 and problem still exists. Ok, i have assumed that noise floor is just only reported by firmware and doesn't have influence on throughtput, but I was wrong. I have just mounted equipment, antennas - and there is a significant different between UB5 and popular SparkLAN WMIA-123AG. WMIA-123AG shows noise floor around -105dBm and pass over 40 mbit/s without problem with NStreme Dual. With UB5 it's not possible to get more than 12 mbit/s in the same enviroment.

Here you have screenshots that have been dumped from MT and RB433 from desktop. Both are in the same enviroment - without any 5GHZ signals/noises.

MT with WMIA-123AG :

It's too big difference.

Interesting. We'll look into it.

Hello Broken,

So we can get an accurate noise flloor value (as different hardware reports it differently) can you get a spectrum analyzer and measure the real noise floor on this link?

We are working on testing in the lab at the moment but this would be real helpfull.

i dont have any spectrum analyzer for 5GHZ frequencies but anyway - in home, in basement or on a real link signal noise floor is around 10-12dB higher than WMIA-123AG cards! Even If I remove antennas from card and run freq. scan there is still too high noise floor around -90dBm - in the same place WMIA-123AG has -105dBm noise floor like you have seen on the screenshoots. TX Power is set on default. Intresting thing is that Noise Floor on WMIA-123AG is quite linear instead of UB5.
