Hi
I have a small problem, have a point to point link 2 pice og Rocket and 17dbi antenna
and have a fiber connection on 50/50 Mbits, have put up the link. make a speed test and only get about 30/18 Mbit is there a wrong settings of the rockes or somthin else ??

A couple of thoughts.

First, are you operating legally? In the
UNII-2e band you're in, rf power is limited
to 250mW and DFS must be operating.

Because you're operating on such a short
link, I believe the NS M5 would be OK.

Have you tried this link with AirMAX
turned off? Do you have auto-ACK on?
If so, try it off, with about a 1.2x
setting of the actual distance.

The tx/rx rates of over 200Mhz seems
a bit over-stated. If they're good, you
should have much better throughput.

I see there's a 12dB difference between
the chains. That seems a bit high to me.
You might try moving the antennas
slightly to improve this. Dave

There can me somthing wrong with the Rocket (station) it fall a sleep, can't connect to it by interface. have to power it up again, then is ok - 15min the same again, I try to switch it, when the wheter is ok, is windy, and we have to clime 45m up
the AP have the connection to the station

Sorry to hear that.

How long is your CAT5 cable?
Are you using shielded (FTP)
type cable? What voltage is
your PoE unit? If this is on a
tower, are you using transient
(lightning) suppression? Dave

Have you tried disabling AirMax? This is a PtP link or not?

Hello,

1. How are you testing the speed?

2. Have you tried Airmax on and off?

3. What is the link distance?

Thanks,

Mike

1. whit a speedtest on http://www.speedtest.net/
2. Yes
3. max 1.5 km
but the rocket fall to sleep, have to power it off, and then is ready ??

the cabel is 45m long cat6,
the poe is that is deleveret with rocket
no transient suppression

1. use a better speed tool, like Mikrotik BTEST o IPERF....

Thelli, if you're mounting this radio on a
40m tower without shielded (FTP) cable
and without transient protection, you
could have all kinds of problems.

Without proper grounds, a radio can build
up a high-voltage charge that would
make it erratic or fail. And I would use
an external CAT5 transient protector
and not rely only on the PoE device.

If your antenna is metal and is mounted
on a metal tower, be sure the tower itself
is properly grounded.

Can you confirm your installation details? Dave

For me is not a installation problem, I have on the same tower 8 Mikrotik Acesspoint witout any problems, same cabel...
I think there is a software/hardware problem

Hello,

What version of the firmware are you on, and have you tried using a Jperf to test the speed of the links?

Thanks,

Mike

You really should not be using 40mhz if you can get away with less. You've got a 50mbit connection; probably 20mhz or even 10 might do the job. 20mhz means half as much interference as 40mhz. This could be a problem with so many other transmitters at the site you mentioned.

Also adjust upward the ack settings as is described in the various threads here.

Just because another brand works
does not mean you can ignore
shielding and grounding for your
Ubiquiti products.

I don't know what your problem is;
I suspect it is several problems. I
suggest you fix the shield problem. Dave
