NanoStation M5 whitout external Antenna???!!

Why??!!

I just bought 3 nanostation M5 and i planed to used them with external antenna just like i was doing with my nanostation 2. Surprise..no external connector..!!

I wanted to use external omni directional antenna Low profile to mount on vehicule.

I want the feature of the Airmax plus the 802.11n and power on the 5ghz.

What do i choose from then?:



Bullet M5hp 300mW(where is the 600mW?)
Rocket M5 500mW(2 chain? do i need 2 antenna?)

Chose a bullet5MHP (1 chain 802.11N). If you find a dual polarized (vertical and horizontal) omni antenna chose a rocket M5 (2 chain 2x2 MIMO 802.11N ).

Can i use only one antenna on the rocket m5?

It would be pointless, using only one chain, would give u none of the benefits.
Ubiquiti have stated that they are not supporting omnis for the rocket, you would need to work out the seperation required.
Hence they have put all the development into the dual pol sectors and the dish.

Jflaganiere, here's the advice I gave
you before:

I never suggested you could use the
NS M5 with an external antenna.

I did suggest you could use the NS Loco M
inside the trailers, or a Pico if you want to
use an external non-'n' device; it's tiny
and inexpensive.

If you plan to use 'n' mode and you insist
on a separate antenna on the trailer, the
way to drive it is with Bullet M5. If you
choose a N-connector antenna, you could
mount the Bullet outside directly to it.

Rocket M5 is not supported for one antenna.
It's not currently supported for compatibility
with non-'n' clients. It's intended for backhaul;
it doesn't seem to fit i this situation at all. Dave

I was just trying to put chances on my side by having the max power. Knowing I could attach an antenna on the nanostation2, I supposed it will be the same for the M5...

I'm concerned by the bullet M5HP since it has 300mw and I planned to use it with a 3dbi low profile omni antenna.

will you still go for the BulletM5HP?

The reason why i didn’t choose the 2.4Ghz series it’s because it more used in general right?
Because bullet m2HP 600mw and bullet M5HP 300mw???WHY?

I'd say you need to be less concerned
about the rf power. The difference
between 300 and 600mW is only 3dB.

If you use external antennas, you'll
lose 2dB just in the cable and two
connectors; that's why mounting
the antenna directly to the Bullet or
using a self-contained radio helps a bit.

If your antennas are actually in sight
of the AP, and are only a few hundred
feet away, power isn't an issue. If a
metal structure blocks the path, no
amount of power will help.

I'd use 5Ghz equipment simply to avoid
conflict with the huge amount of 2.4Ghz
stuff in an urban environment. It will be
an unknown that could plague you. Dave

mostly the antenna are located around max 300 feet apart, some can be up to 1000feet away.

10 Semi(trailers acting) as offices: Voip, Web and VPN

I want to setup a "Mesh" for the office(eliminate wiring each time the office move)

The office will move and be relocated each months. So i want to eliminate the setup part(No antenna alignment,mounting or cabling).

One of the office is mine and the internet access is coming in along with servers.

Since the office are relocated the distance separating them will vary 10-1000 feet. But the mission critical one will stay within 300feet.

No building or metal structure obstructing. only Canvas tent(Circus).
