View Full Version : link dropping when traffic loaded up nano5m to rocket

I have a link that is 1.9 miles, and when not under any load runs just fine, ping times 2-3 ms. When under load, say 10-15 mb/s of traffic, my ping times are still in the 25-50 ms range, but my ccq% is all over the place(30%-100%). It has lost the link twice today. I do have the ack set for manual setting, no airmax turned on, and the speed is set for auto. I have tried several manual speed settings(mc12 and 10) of both which showed worse ccq% than auto setting. My signal level shows -67. I am running rc6 version of software on each end. The rocket is set for station/wds and the nano is set for ap/wds. Freq is 5600. Any suggestions? I ran this for days in test mode before bringing it online today for production traffic.

Here is a screen shot of the rocket end.showing the low ccq% and signals.

As a generalization and not necessarly the issue in your case...
excessive cable runs will cause the voltage to drop. ping times may still look good but when it gets under a load there are performance issues

One cable run is about 75 feet and the other is about 100 feet. I will test cables out just to make sure.

what antenna is connected to rocket?

rocket is on the rocket dish.
The rocket dish uses circular (clockwise and conterclockwise) polarization.
The nano 5m uses horizontal and vertical polarization.
The rocket dish should be used with another rocket dish.
The nano 5m can be used with a rocket with sector antenna or another nano 5m or a bullet 5m.

Just an update, I changed freq and now the link is more stable. I still see the ccq% going all over the place, but traffic is passing. Interesting on the dish antenna to a nano. So could I just use either just vert or just hor on teh rocket and connect to the nano that way. All I really need to get across this link is about 25mb/s max, normal load is in the 10-15 mb/s range, which it is doing now.

Where are you getting this from?
My understanding is the Rocketdish is vertical and horizontal...

The RocketDish is Dual Polarized, Hor & Vert - it is not Circular POL.

Damn ! I was starting to get all excited. :biggrinjester:
I got this info from Mike at UBNT. He can set the record straight.

The dish is H and V pol, not circular.
