I was only able to get this one test done before the thing failed on me this afternoon.

Channel width : 40mhz 2x2
Wireless Channel : 5500mhz
Encryption : WPA2-AES
Airmax : Enabled
Clients Associated : 2 (two separate machines with nanostation M5's, one with iperf server, the other iperf client) repeating through access point with client isolation disabled for this test (obviously)
iPerf bidirectional Throughput (TCP) : 21.8Mbps & 24.5Mbps on a 120 second test

When would airmax come into effect? Obviously more than two clients as I saw nearly double the ping times (in the 60-80ms range loaded) with airmax enabled, with less net bandwidth bidirectional than with it off, and ping times were much better in the 20-30ms range for the most part.

I realize this is in "perfect" conditions since it's a lab test with the antennas about 50' apart with practically zero noise for testing.

Hello,

The ping times seem unusally high. Can you post your config files so I can have a look?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike - For some reason, although signal is NOT the issue, it's modulating at much less than MCS15 and when I force it to 15 on both ends, I get massive packet loss and wild ping times.

Hello,

Can you disable AutoACK and set both sides to 120% of the actual distance?

Thanks,

Mike

I'll change that when I'm done testing the Bullet M5 (which just showed up this morning!)

40Mhz Bi-Directional Test
Hardware - Both ends - Bullet M5 attached to 22dbi MTI Edge antenna (Vertically polarized)
Ack timing - 22 (fixed @ .1 miles) - disabled auto ack
Encryption - WPA2-AES
Channel - 100 (5500Mhz)
Link Distance - 50 feet
Wimax - Disabled
Throughput - iperf bidirectional with 10 streams (48.5Mbps & 48.2Mbps)
Ping times - Average 20ms over 30 second test loaded

40Mhz One-Way Test
Hardware - Both ends - Bullet M5 attached to 22dbi MTI Edge antenna (Vertically polarized)
Ack timing - 22 (fixed @ .1 miles) - disabled auto ack
Encryption - WPA2-AES
Channel - 100 (5500Mhz)
Link Distance - 50 feet
Wimax - Disabled
Throughput - iperf with 10 streams (79.9Mbps)
Ping times - Average 13ms over 30 second test loaded

Mike - Autoack disabled on all devices with distance set to .1mi (22ack).
40Mhz bidirectional yields:
18ms average ping times loaded
26.7Mbps & 26.8Mbps
