First I come from Germany so sorry when my english isn't perfect.
Since I use Linux I love to play with my wlan stuff (wardriving etc.).
A good friend of mine asked me which wlan card I would recommend to him. I read in some german wlan forums good things about ubiquiti (it was the first time I heard about this company). He has an express slot in his notebook so I recommend the SR71-X card to him.
He bought the card by the following distributor.
http://www.wiedemann-is.de/shop/product_info.php/products_id/201
After a few days the card arrived and evrything worked great (he also uses Linux). After a short time we thought lets by a stronger antenna with a pigtail for MMCX to rp-sma to make real wardriving like other freaks here in Germany.
Than the problem began one day he decided to put out the pigtail from the card (it was difficult maybe the pigtail was scrap). He got the pigtail out but when he connected the two delivered antenas (which were with the card included) to use n-mode he knew somethings going wrong -> after a few tests the bad result was that one of the two connectors from the card was broken.
In Germany here we have one year distributor waranty - Thats the law here!
So he wrote letters and mails to the german distributor "wiedermann" (see link). Nothing happend and for 99,90€ nobody without a law insurance takes a lawyer (he costs more than the card).
Normaly we have in Germany no waranty problems with distributors because companys here want to be customer friendly but the problem is only two distributors (I don't found a big german company which sell ubiquiti products here) sell ubiquiti products here in Germany.
So what can my friend do?
He payed 99.90€ that's much for a wlan card here in Germany (I don't know the prices in the states etc. but I think it's same as here)
THX guys for your time and I hope you understand evrything
