We are pulling our hair out trying to figure out why when any one of our customers does any kind of sustained upload into any one of our base stations, the entire base station comes to its knees. Packet loss begins occurring, the phone starts ringing with people saying they cannot connect to the Internet.

We have tried rate limiting clients down to 64K upload, yet if any sustained upload, even just 64K, to the base station occurs people start complaining. We have had clients with viruses etc., that have brought sectors down because a continuous upload of 128K (rate limited) has occurred. The base stations in question are LS2 with 6 clients connected, firmware version 3.3.1. Clients are PS2/NS2/LS2 mix, same firmware version. The base station is in AP WDS mode with all clients in Station WDS mode.

We have noticed that our up/down rates are asymmetrical. Customers are experiencing about 3Mbs down/ 300Kbs up?????. The CCQ of all of the subscribers is 100% since we lowered the transmit rate to 1Mbs, so I guess some asymmetry is to be expected. ACK Timeouts have been fixed to 110% of the distance with the base station set to the max value. Noise floor is -98dBm with client signals between -50dBm and -70dBm.

We love the Ubiquiti products. We have much invested in them. Yet, this problem is creating havoc in the server closet. We are spending way too much time looking for a client UPLOADING to the Internet.

Does anyone experience the same, or does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas???

We are committed to Ubiquiti, and want to resolve this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Happened to me too.

Went to investigate and it was an Iphone connected to the AP used as an internet phone.

The person was talking to someone else through the internet.

VOIP was the culprit.

I blocked the iphone and problem was solved.
